About Local Currency


The oficial currency in Peru is "nuevo sol" and the exchange rate is aproximately S/.3.30 nuevos soles to 1 US Dollar and S/.4.12 nuevos soles to 1 euro. Additional information about currency conversion is available at Banco de la Nación del Perú website or El Comercio Peru newspaper

There are many places to exchange money in Lima and all of them accept US dollars and many of them euros. You can also exchange US Dollars in the banks. Malls, supermarkets and department stores accept US dollars, nuevos soles and credit cards.

It is recommended to get some nuevos soles in order to pay small-amount transactions.
